FILE PICTWO Pyrenees Shire wineries will represent Australia on the world stage in France later this year at the prestigious VITeff sparkling wine technology exhibition.
Blue Pyrenees and Taltarni are two of just seven Australian wineries to be chosen to attend the exhibition in Champagne. Of the seven chosen, three are from Victoria and four from South Australia.
Mayor Tanya Kehoe said the success of these businesses was another great achievement of Pyrenees-based businesses.
“This is a great coup for the region and positions the Pyrenees as one of the premier wine making regions in Australia,” she said.
“It is terrific that Pyrenees Shire can lay claim to two of Australia’s best sparkling wine producers, both specialising in cool-climate méthode-traditionnelle sparkling’s.
“People of Western Victoria are very lucky to have such world class wineries on their doorstep.”
Both wineries were established by French winemakers in the 1960s.
The prize for both wineries are all-expenses trips to attend VITeff in October.
“This is an amazing opportunity for these wine makers to promote their product and the Pyrenees Wine Region to the world,” Cr Kehoe said.
Other Australian wine makers to attend include Victoria’s Brown Brothers, along with Di Giorgio Wines, Petaluma Wines, Treasury Wine Estates and Yalumba Wines, all from South Australia.
“Congratulations to both Blue Pyrenees and Taltarni on this terrific achievement,” Cr Kehoe said.
